HCOP Program Overview

The University of North Texas Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) offers four structured programs designed to support students on their journey toward careers in behavioral health. Our programs are open to high school students, incoming college students, recent undergraduate graduates/incoming first-year graduate students, and current first-year, second-year, or third-year students pursuing a behavioral health graduate degree.

We believe students thrive when they are supported by others who have walked a similar path.

That’s why HCOP incorporates a near-peer mentoring model, connecting participants with mentors at more advanced stages of their academic journey to foster guidance, confidence, and shared learning.

Through academic support, career exposure, mentoring, and professional development, the HCOP program equips students with the skills and experiences they need to succeed in behavioral health professions.
